Chicken Pulao : Mildly Spiced Chicken Rice Recipe

Chicken pulao is an flavored chicken rice cooked with mild Indian spices. Pintoos Kitchen presents you with a simple Chicken Pulao Recipe.  It goes good with various raitas like boondi raita or plain onion raita. Since chicken pulao is made with mild spices its not heavy like chicken biryani. So lets not waste any more time and get to the recipe of Chicken Pulao.



Chicken Pulao : Mildly Spiced Chicken Rice



Ingredients :

To Marinate

250 grams chicken
3/4 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp red chili powder
A Generous pinch of turmeric
Salt as per taste
2 tbsp Curd
1 tsp oil


Spices :

1 bay leaf
1 Star anise
1/2 tsp jeera
8 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 black cardamom
1 tsp. saunf powder
1 strand mace

Other Ingredients :

1 + 1/2 cups rice
2 tbsp. oil
1 large onion thinly sliced
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 medium tomato chopped
Salt as per taste
1/4 tsp of Turmeric
3 cups chicken stock or water
Few coriander leaves chopped



Method :

Wash the rice and keep it aside for soaking for 20 minutes.

Now marinade the chicken using the ingredients mentioned under marinate ingredients and keep it a side.

Heat a thick vessel and add oil, add all the spices to the oil.

Once the spices are fragrant, add onions, chilis and fry till slightly brown.

Now add the ginger garlic paste and let it fry till the raw smell goes.

Add the marinated chicken and fry till its tender.

Now add the tomatoes, turmeric and salt. Let the tomatoes cook untill they are soft. Add the corriander and fry till its fragrant.

Add the chicken stock or water to the vessel.

Once the mixture comes to a boil add rice and salt and cook it till the rice is done.

Lower the flame and let the chicken pulao sit on fire for another 5 minutes.
